I collected 50 textures from a 1986 archive of Autodesk's Texture Universe. My goal was to create a digital space resembling that of early 3D experiences one would find on the internet. These 3D games often used low-quality dithered textures and had no complicated lighting systems as a means of keeping performance costs low. The environments were simplistic as developing in 3D wasn't as well documented and was troublesome for hobbyists. The textures I used were the same ones those original artists used with many of the same techniques applied. My goal is to create something reminiscent of early primitive depictions of 3D while also showcasing these assets that give me and others a nostalgic feel for youthful digital creation.
